MzDebra is a former graphic artist who has taught first grade for 25 years. She reveres any marks made on a page made by her students. She admires art, letterforms, and words.
I paint animals in a folk art style on wood. My representation of these animals is my apology to them for how we treat them and for what we have done to their home.
MzDebra, (as she is called), is a former graphic artist who has taught first grade for 25 years. She integrates art into all of her lessons, involving learners in multiple aspects of the creative endeavor from making puppets to designing and painting murals (check out mzdebra.com for her children’s museum). “Art in the classroom is the tool that allows me to connect a child’s mind to their heart.”
MzDebra’s home studio is filled with her paintings of animals which are created in the same spirit that she encourages in her classroom.
